Key point in all of this is how are we going to win the hearts and minds of the muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan when they see us treating muslims here like 2nd class citizens. Obama needs to come out and say the center belongs where it is to show the world that we aren't prejudice. Of course than the right wing nutjobs will say he is Islamic.
Honestly the amount of hatred that is being spewed in this country right now scares me. It's on a level I haven't witnessed since being alive. This mosque was announced a year ago. Why is it now an issue? Because the bat crazy right wing media wants it to be for election time. I voted for Barack, not exactly happy with what he has done, but also don't know if I would flip back the other way, because the republicans haven't attempted anything other than block everything that Obama tries to do. This is the most partisan time I have ever witnessed. And it has brought out the crazies in a big way. Fox News has shown they can spew and create hatred like no other media channel that I have ever witnessed. Never has a major liberal media channel treated a president with such disrespect. It is a scary time for the level headed people (right and left) in this country right now |
