I would distinguish the "freedom from religion" people from your garden variety atheists. The former are myopic, and the latter are very laissez faire.

When I listen to a Freedom From Religion type podcast, it does not sound very different from a fundamentalist religious show. In fact, many of the FFR types were formerly religious fundamentalists. These are narrow-minded people who only see the world in black and white terms.
