So he run on first and second down, even though the Saints were stacked against it. A couple of loss plays ensued and Favre was forced to make a huge 3rd and long throw to get them back within range.

The way that drive was going...it was Childress that should take the brunt of the blame IMO. It shouldn't have come down to a heroic play by Favre to win them the game, because it was theirs for the taking.
I'm not a Childress fan by any means but I'm willing to bet that the majority of NFL head coaches would have ran on 1st & 2nd down in that situation especially with Adrian Peterson in the backfield. In retrospect they would have been better off running 3rd down as well as even if there is no gain they still get an opportunity to win the game.

I don't think Childress told Farve that a heroic play was needed on 3rd down in fact the play was probably a conservative short pass just to pick up a handful of yards. Favre's initial read was covered, the play broke down and out of the pocket he should have just thrown the ball away. Instead he made a pass that they teach QB's never to attempt in football 101. Blaming Childress is ridiculous.
