Facebook isn't all that bad, but you have to bend it to work for you. With the proper mixture of privacy settings, app blocking and people blocking it can be a very useful tool. Once you get around the un-godly little game updates that spam like crazy, it's not bad.
Edit: Something that drives me mad is that there are no great clients. Twitter has a ton of little clients that let you do almost anything you want, whereas facebook still relies almost 100% on the site. I'm rarely going to the site on my computer though (mobile devices generally), and the site doesn't respond overly well in that regard. Blocking people (imo) is an essential part of the facebook experience, and not being able to do that from a mobile app is maddening.
There are some people that you know pretty well, but all they do is post updates about their kids. I'm guilty of this, but I make sure to only post a couple times a week. Some people post multiple times a day about their kids and it's exhausting. Blocking them is the only way sometimes.
