The thing to keep in mind watching that video is that we're watching someone adjust to a brand new play style. From what I've read from people playing it now, the passing, hitting and skating are 'different' but feel more comfortable.
The hits and passes don't happen the same way as before because they aren't animation based. This will affect everyone's timing and that will show through in the game play footage.
I like what I have heard about the feel of the game thus far. People seem to think it is far more realistic, and I have read numerous comments about the improved teammate and opposition AI. Dumping pucks in for line changes, trying to beat the defender one on one, or one on two with a deke.
Other things that I found interesting from raeding is the protect the puck feature and the physics. Apparently the puck protect is no longer just the 'stick your arm out and lean', you actually skate. Someone posted that they were doing this with James van Riemsdyk and Patrick Sharp came in to hit him, but took the worst of it because JVR was leaning into him.
Small things that for me, should vastly improve the game play.
