Broken Social Scene have been around longer than Nickleback I would wager, and they are incredibly popular in Toronto and surrounding areas. You'd be surprised how well indie bands can stick around. BSS will long outlive Nickleback once people get tired of hearing the same old songs over and over again.

LOL..ok but I mean outliving in the public eye...playing in pubs or dinky little halls across Canada isnt exactly what I was referring to. As to the people get tired of listening to stuff....tell that to the Guess Who...and no Im not trying to comare the bands.
