Default Project Management/Team Coordination Software

Hi all, any ideas on some sort of online program where a business team of 4-8 people can coordinate schedules, documents, etc? Mostly we're trying to organize multiple employees, multiple projects, multiple sub-projects, without using something dumb like a big excel spreadsheet.

It doesn't have to be free... would be nice if it was though. Does Google do something like this?
