This one depends on your perspective. This is by far the most heartbreaking moment in sports for me personally.

The setup. The last match of the English league season. Liverpool are in the driving seat to win another championship. Arsenal must beat them by two clear goals at Anfield to deny them and win the title themselves.

It does not get much more dramatic than this. Arsenal scored and were leading 1-0 going into injury time. Then with basically the last kick of the match Michael Thomas scored to make it 2-0 and win the Championship for the Arse. Great for the Gooner fans and neutrals quite likely, absolutely as heartbreaking as possible for Liverpool fans. This one still haunts me to this day. Ironically Michael Thomas became a Liverpool player later in his career.
