i have done this casually in about 5 hrs - howevr i rode at or above the speed limit of 20 kph, and did not stop. there are some places where the plath is not congested and you can ride pretty fast - if you stop and sightsee they the ride could easily drag out to 7 hrs.

good thing about the rid is that you change directions, so you are riding into the wind and then with it - bad thing is the weather here, if it turns, 40 k can turn into a very long ride home even if you have some rain gear.

how old is you son?

as an aside, i used to go for long rindes and never had a speedometer/odometer - when I finally got one, i was stunned to see that i regularly rode 100k.
