The question is how you would re-supply those troops.

Even a day of wartime operations takes a mountain full of fuel, ammo, food and water. The only way to get that stuff there in sufficient quantities is by sea, airlift wouldn't keep up. The Russians still have a formidable fleet of subs, and their naval aviation is nothing to laugh about.

Plus if you invade Russia you run into the same problem as the German's and the French, Russia's best defense is trading land and space sucking you in until they can gather all their forces in one solid ball removing thrust.

The Russians still have one of the largest land armies on the planet.

Even if the Russians sent 3 or 4 of their motoriized infantry divisions backed up by air power and artillery they'd still have what? Several hundred divisions left in reserve to fight off an invasion.
