This happened to me long suffering. Your honestly better off to just sell your iPhone on kijiji and try to get 400 bucks or so for it, and use that money to buy a ANDROID phone (Milestone, Dream, etc) as they are better then the iphone anyways. This is what I did, you wont have to worry about getting your unlock screwed over as you can buy some phones like the Nexus One, straight from google unlocked.
