I'll be honest - I have my doubts that the woman said "excuse me please, I have a disability", 3 times prior to the cop connecting with her. Granted there is no audio for this and all we have is her word to go on. Hey, if she did and this still happened, the cops are probably in the wrong.
Whether or not she said excuse me should make no difference whether the cop was in the wrong. Being rude should not warrant being pushed to the ground like that, although I'm sure it would cross a lot of officers minds, but 99 percent act the professional way.

In East Hastings it is difficult to tell if someone has CP or is simply high as a kite. Someone stumbling around or having spasms is a regular occurrence there. Don't believe me? Next time you are in Vancouver, drive around that hellhole. We have NOTHING that remotely compares to that here. Nothing.
I do believe you, because I have driven past there, and it was the most horrible sight I could imagine, BUT again being high or drunk in public should not get you pushed unless you are agressive, which she clearly wasn't. We might not have anything remotely close to that, but if the cops can't handle that then they should find another job.

Given the fact that she was hanging out in East Hastings strongly suggests that CP isn't her only problem (possible schizophrenia or other mental illness, likely homeless as well, drug addiction, etc). If in fact she was muttering like a nutter (instead of politely saying excuse me and professing her disability) and nudges a cop around the gun belt... well good luck with that. Cops are already on edge. If she goes down and begins swearing or continues to beak off at the cops - well, they're probably not going to help you up.
I really don't even care that she was disabled. I would still be pissed if it was just a totally sane woman being pushed. Her mental state makes no difference to me as she is still a human being and a Canadian and shouldn't be treated the way she was.

This is a very real situation where the cops wont toss some petty, disabled and maybe crazy criminal in jail. They'll be released in a couple days and declared mentally unfit to stand trial, a possible fine which never gets paid, resulting in a systematic waste of money and everyone's time.

Well it's not her fault the system is flawed. She didn't even do anything to be arrested in the first place so that argument doesn't work. Anyone who watches the video knows what truly happened and would be pretty biased to say the cop actually thought she was going for his gun.

We don't have all the facts in this case. But I just took a situation and applied a much more real and likely scenario (In East Hastings) to it than some of you just did. There just isn't enough evidence to go on based on that video alone.
I will never understand when people say there isn't enough evidence in a video because I watched the video and it's clear as day, even without audio.

And I'm definitely not a cop hater. I have the most respect in the world for officers who risk their lives everyday to serve and protect. Just a couple bad apples in the batch.

Anyways I'm off to enjoy this beautiful weather.
