Default Maritimes in the Fall - Potential Engagement

Well, after 38+ years of bachelorhood, and times times clinging fiercely to my single independence, the time has come to drop to one knee and propose to a girl naive and accepting enough to willingly choose to spend time with me. We're going to New Brunswick for her step-brother's wedding on the Labour Day weekend and then spending the next couple weeks visiting family and friends in NB and Halifax.

She has some friends and relatives in Halifax, and one thought I had was to do the deed somewhere in Halifax and then arrange to have these friends and relatives waiting to surprise her at a nice casual/romantic restaurant/lounge/pub later on that evening.

Now, never having been east of Toronto within Canada, my local knowledge of that area is sketchy at best. So if anyone has any sure-fire romantic locations in NB or the Halifax area, as well as an eating/gathering spot that would meet my above criteria, I'm all ears. I also anticipate the usual advice re: "Don't do it!" - believe me, I've handed out that advice a time or two in the past myself.

Thanks in advance CP.
