at&t leads the industry in dropped calls, it's not just the iPhone, everyone on at&t has similar issues depending on the area.
EDIT: Here I do mean normal dropped calls, not dropped calls due to attenuation of the signal by the hardware design problem when holding the phone a specific way. There are two separate issues.
That's why people want the iPhone on Verizon, so they don't have to be on at&t's crappy network.
And that's why you don't have the same problem with iPhones in other places.

They should have, though really did they have much choice? Unless they introduced a CDMA phone they were kind of stuck with at&t for a national carrier.
