I like In N Out Burger. Then again, there's a a whole lot more to their menu than you'll see on the board.

I've been to LA many times and while parts of it can be a dump... there IS lots there/in the area. Yes, the airport sucks, it's old, etc. I'm not sure what's doable in a 9 hour timespan, but Santa Monica is great. Lots of shopping. Long Beach isn't bad, nearly crashed a Jehovah's Witness convention on the way to the aquarium, oops.

Pasadena was nice but I spent way too much money there.
