The organization can't have people being injured at the games, intentionally, or even just by accident in creation of this snake. It would be too hard to manage everyone trying to contribute to the snake and what happens with all the cups. They are doing the right thing. The drunk fans might actually have to watch the game to entertain themselves.

Really? Without a few morons throwing cups I think it is extremely cool.
THink of the literally dozens of different methods teams use to entice people to attend games, CFL or otherwise.
50/50s, the wave, prizes in between periods/during commercial breaks, launching mini footballs into the crowd etc etc.
Sure, none of those events generally hurt people, but that is my whole point. If you eliminate the morons throwing the cups, the beer snake is a fantastic idea. It creates a buzz and in a CFL market that has potential but has struggled the last few years it could help get young people involved.
