Interesting that they had 3 planes seeding the Calgary cloud, to my knowledge they only base 2 at YYC. The third must have flown down from Red Deer, I believe they base at least 3 planes there.

I'm not surprised they were up seeding, I would have been shocked if they weren't. Usually when they seed these types of storms it sucks all the energy out of the thing and it sometimes falls apart. So, if they were onto it in time and we still ended up with what we did then I don't think baseball sized hail would have been out of the question. And yes, I believe the seeding can make the hail more mushy.
They also keep planes in Olds or Didsbury - can't remember which.
