Default GAME 3: STAMPEDERS(2-0) at TORONTO(1-1)

Third game of the season and short week for both teams. It was an exciting finish against the Hamilton TigerCats especially the winning field goal by the rookie Stampeder kicker Maver.

Stamps defense played pretty well again especially late in the game when Hamilton went close to the goal line. They stopped them from going in for a touchdown 3 times. That was huge!

Better effort for the Stamps' offense. Good for the Offensive Line to make adjustments from the first half. First Half were terrible for them especially for the rookie Edwin Harrison.

QUARTERBACK: Burris played well especially when the OLine started giving him more time. I still think we are not seeing the best of Burris just yet. Should Burris watch for that cheap shot DL Adriano Belli of the Argonauts? I don't think so.

RUNNING BACK: A very consistent Joffrey Reynolds usually have good game running against the TiCats. Well, that last game wasn't an exception. I see another 80+ yards for Joffrey on this game vs the Argos.

OFFENSIVE LINE: OLine struggled in the first half. Rookie Edwin Harrison got picked on a lot in the first half but they made some adjustments in the 2nd half. Overall the OLine still got the passing grade on Game 2.

RECEIVERS: Romby Bryant 2 drop passes (both of them wide open), Arjei Franklin dropped 2 catches as well. PK Sam played well. Would that be enough to keep Jermaine Jackson, who I thought played well in Game 1, on the sideline? I am hoping the Stamps will have spot for both of them but due to the ratio problem (starting 2 imports in OL), they have to sit an import receiver. Rookie non-import Forzani had his first catch in the CFL vs Hamilton. With Ryan Thelwell practicing with the first rep, there is a possibility he might play. That means Ron Kelly or Forzani might sit out.

I thought Nik Lewis played well and he was so active at the game against Hamilton.

DEFENSIVE LINEMEN: These guys played by commitee. You can't really pick who is the best DLine because all of them played well. I thought they are the biggest reason the Stamps won in Game 2.

Interesting article on the Herald this morning regarding Mike Labinjo. It says Coach told Labinjo to Improve or He's Gone. I guess we didn't even noticed that Labinjo didn't play a lot in the 2nd Half. He was replaced by George most of the day. I hope these would lit Labinjo's butt and play well against the Argos. I love Labinjo and hate to see him gone.

LINEBACKING: They too played well along with the DLine. RB Cobb didn't have a good game running against the Stamps' DLine and the LB. Glenn didn't get a chance to run around as well.

DEFENSIVE BACKS: There was some ups and down on this position. I thought Brandon Smith played well against Arland Bruce. Overall they were good against Hamilton.

SPECIAL TEAM: Deon Murphy almost scored a TD on 2 returns. The first one was the kickoff return. He broke the wall then almost went all the way. The only reason he didn't make it was Sandro's tripping him. The second one was on Sandro's missed field goal. He started off kind of scary. I thought someone will tackle him on the 1 yard line only to break loose. Murphy just ran out of gas after the 105 yards return. Don't matter because the Stamps hit the paydirt on Burris-Lewis TD.
Kicker Rob Maver outduelled his teacher Sandro going for 3 for 3 and hit the most important field goal in his early CFL career.
Stamps gave up a punt return for TD but I am sure they will work on that.

GO STAMPS GO!!
