If James had been a standup guy he wouldn't have lead the Cav's along until there were no other options. There was no question that James was going to follow his buddies wherever they were going, and since Bosh had stated that Cleveland wasn't big enough for him it was clear to everyone that James would follow him.

But instead he lead the Cav's on and gave them the feeling that there was a chance to resign him.

I don't blame the owner for lashing out, and I think it was awesome in this day and age of the spoiled athlete, especially the ones in the NBA.
If there was no question about it, shouldn't the Cavs have known about it too? Everyone's been speculating that LeBron would leave in 2010 back in 2008.

They either had to lock him up with an extension or trade him a year early (like the Blue Jays and Halliday). There's no way they should have let him go to FA and let HIM make the decision. Don't let the player control you! They trusted LeBron and paid dearly for it.

Same with the Raptors, there was trade talk about Bosh since 2009 and the Raps really should have pulled the trigger.

If team lets a player go to free agency, they can't blame the player for leaving under any circumstances. That the risk the team takes.
