I think this is a bad idea simply because its unnecessary. People should have the right to their anonymity up until the point where they decide what degree of it they determine acceptable to shed.

I don't know what your example has to with the your second second statement. Facebook has always said that you need to sign up with your real name. There has never been an expectation of privacy from them.
And when was it ever acceptable to publish drunken pictures of yourself, even before the internet?

People had the "right" to choose over at Blizzard as well. As it stands, their forums are totally useless. They have chosen to try to improve them via this policy. Heck, who knows if it's going to work. Having said that, I do post on forums that require real name usage, and their user bases are far larger than CP's.
It seems the choice is quite simple - don't post there then.
