If this is actually true, Virgin is just gouging him and there is no reason for there to be an $8000 dollar charge as a credit could easily be retroactively applied considering a cheaper roaming alternative was offered.
Sure, the guy is an idiot for not implementing this plan initially before he went over but definitely the charge is pure extortion.
