The reason people are focusing more on his (now pretty well undeniable) racism rather than his (also quite apparent) misogyny is because misogyny is still more acceptable than racism, and by some margin. Violent rape and murder of women with little motivation other than them being born as attractive women is many, many times more common than racially motivated violence in Canada, and certainly elsewhere in the world. Justifications of racist violence, even subtle justifications of it, are nowhere near as widespread as subtle justifications for rape and sexual harrassment, which I personally see all the time. Domestic abuse is not the province of the uneducated and trailer-dwelling, it is the province of virtually every class and ethnic or cultural group. The incessant demonization of feminism and the misrepresentation of feminism as exclusively a radical activity is really pretty indicative of how things still are even in our 'first world' society. It's no secret that a hell of a lot of men think of women primarily as sexual objects, and quite clearly think there should be some power held over them. I don't know, I see a lot of prejudice toward women, and I even see a lot of women who seem to think that prejudice is warranted, who wish to conform to patriarchal norms, whose idea of empowerment is offering themselves as cows waiting to be impregnated.

I'm not being very articulate, I can sense that, so I'll just ask you to consider how commonplace and 'normal' it is to use slurs against women and use stereotypes of them. No, not 'get me a sandwich' joke-type stuff, I mean stuff like how it's pretty much acceptable to speak of women in a pretty derogatory and dehumanizing fashion among men. Think if it was ordinary to talk about black people the way a lot of men talk about women. I don't feel like I'm saying much of substance at all. I'm slightly drunk. Anyway, violence and discrimination against women has a long way to go just to reach where race relations have.
