The plugs usually last the life of the tire. You can buy them at Canadian Tire in the automotive section. The kit will contain a reemer that looks like a screw driver, a plug tool with a t-grip handle and 4 or 5 gooey looking fabric plugs.
You take the tire off the car. Go to a gas station with an airhose and fill the tire. If you can't find the nail or leak a soapy solution poured over the tire, and along the bead of the tire will show you. Sometimes its a rim leak that requires the tire to be removed and rim to be cleaned. If you find a nail carefully pull it out with a pair of plyers. Then quickly shove the reemer in the hole so the tire doesnt deflate. If it wont go in straight away slowly force it in working it back and forth. Next thread the tire plug through the eyelit on the plug tool. Sometimes this part is a pain because you have to squish the end of the plug and force it through, use plyers to grab the part you can thread and pull it through. Using the reemer quickly work it back and forth in the tire. This will heat the tire so the plug goes in easier. Then quickly pull it out and shove the plug into the tire using the tool. You'll have to twist it once its in and pull the tool out. Trim the plug with plyers then fill the tire with air. Use soap to test after that.
All told the fix will take 20 mins if you're dickin around and cost $10ish.
