Before seeing this thread, today I clicked the update button in iTunes to bring my iPhone 3g from os 3.whatever to 4.0. Had I read up on the net and here I wouldn't have tried.

I've now rebooted both my desktop and my phone several times, I keep getting a frozen progress bar that appears 3/4 of the way through the upgrade process. My phone has been trying to update for about 8 hours now. From internet searches this is a common problem updating the iPhone 3G.

Apple sucks.

Edit: Have read more reports on difficulties upgrading to 4.0... wow, apparently I have to give the iPhone 3g 12 hours in the upgrade loop before rebooting because it might take that long...

Apple really sucks.

Edit 2: I found the problem... it was related to a program I installed for my iPad... once I deleted the iPad related program, my iPhone restored properly.... wow... Apple really needs to spend some time figuring out how its devices change Windows 7....
