I would give it more than several hours of being out before you write it off. They sold an absurd 600,000 units already. There are bound to be problems in a batch that large, in fact it's a guarantee. The screen issue could be a manufacturing quirk that resolves itself. We'll have to wait and see about the reception issue. It does look it could damaged pretty easily, case will be a necessity.
Like I said, give it more time and see how it holds up. I wouldn't put a lot of stock into what Gizmodo says a couple hours after it's out. They have a tendency to jump to conclusions and get carried away. The late Canadian release date will give us plenty of time to see what the build quality is really like.
