I asked my girlfriend who takes the train about this. She thought it was utterly ridiculous that someone should give up their seat for her because she is standing. She said that if a man and a women are both walking to the same seat that the guy should allow the women to sit down. But if the man is already sitting down then it's first come first serve and he shouldn't feel obliged at all to give up his seat unless it's for a pregnant lady, someone that has trouble standing or a senior citizen. I'll be sure to tell her that her attitude is wrong and she is preventing men from being real men.
Why is the train and the bus this strange place where women get priority for some of you? I assume you all pull over in traffic when a women is driving behind you and that you let a women go in front of you when you are standing in line for something. Kind of strange that you are being a gentleman giving up your seat for a standing woman on a train, but you don't give up your place in line for the same standing woman.
