Sorry dude, yes you are.
A bigot is someone who is "obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices. The correct use of the term requires the elements of intolerance, irrationality, and animosity toward those of differing beliefs." (
wikipedia)
Your statement, and by extension beliefs fit all the necessary criteria to make you a bigot.
1.
You are devoted to your own opinions and prejudices. - You "don't want to get embroiled in an argument" indicating that you are obstinate in your opinion and refuse to listen to the other side. Your mind is made up.
2.
Your opinions and prejudices are intolerant and irrational. - There are no rational arguments for opposing gay marriage, merely emotional ones and appeals to authority. Also, your opinion demonstrates an intolerance of people's differences.
3.
They demonstrate animosity towards a specific group of people. - In addition to wanting to restrict the freedoms of a group of people, your statement indicates that somehow homosexuality "deteriorates" marriage, indicating that, in some way, homosexuality and by extension homosexuals are inferior because of their sexuality.
It's a free country, so you can have whatever opinion you want, but you should be aware that your opinion on this issue is bigoted and, by extension, you are a bigot.
