Can we just make it clear here that the concept of "marriage" or a "civil union" is not a religious concept. It is a legal status, no more and no less. You can feel free to extend your concepts to it as you wish, but on a factual basis it has nothing to do with legal rights beyond that. Would there be an objection to two men entering into a limited partnership that assigned the rights of marriage to the other members of the partnership?

I'd love to see an actual argument that actually presents a counter to this notion, but to this point all I've ever seen is fear mongering.

Let's be clear, gay marriage will not effect you as a straight person in any conceivable way. You will not have to hold a man's hand.
