See this is why I don't take public transit unless I have absolutely no choice. If I'm driving down the road and I see some senior citizen, or a pregnant lady, nobody expects me to stop the car and offer a ride - especially as it wouldn't be viewed as chivalry, but creepery; it ruins the good deed when the intended recipient of it starts hollering for the police.
Although on the off chance I was on transit, and someone peremptorily asked for my seat, I'd just ask "Why?", if it wasn't obvious. If you can't be bothered to be polite when asking, I see no need to be polite in responding, and if you have no real reason other than a sense of entitlement, you can damn well stand.
