For anyone that needs to defend a 6 month old opinion about a piece of tech to the bitter end to fit into their narrow world view that "_____ is the only good OS/company/program/device in the world and everything else sucks", it may cause some problems.** But so what? I would think that those people are a minority.

Example: It's always interesting at the end of the hockey season to go and review the predictions made in pre-season. Most people won't get butt hurt when it turns out their predictions were wrong.

Looking back at my prediction:
I didn't think the iPad would do nearly this well. For a few reasons that don't need rehashing, it's not an ideal device for me and I'm waiting to see what else is coming in the next year or two before jumping on the tablet bandwagon - if I do at all. I'm still surprised that 3 million people think they'll get $500-$850 (plus the cost of data plans and apps) worth of use out of it but to each their own; it isn't the first time and it won't be the last time that a large number of people jump on a tech craze/gizmo that I don't see the value in (example: twitter).

** This applies equally to fanboys and haters.

Haters gonna hate
