Would you be fine with it if the government only recognized civil unions, and marriages were left to churches to grant to whoever they feel is appropriate? If marriage is about religion and God, I don't see why the government should be involved with it. If it's about more than that, I can't see why the government should grant it to some consenting adults while denying it to others.
