You can travel with more than $10,000 so long as you declare it. I'm sure you'll have to explain why you're traveling with so much money, but it isn't illegal or anything.
If you're moving and will be setting up local accounts and everything, I'd go and talk to your Canadian bank (assuming you're moving from Canada) and find out what they would advise. With so much money floating around electronically in the modern world, I don't think you'd really need to carry everything in cash. You should be able to open an account with a Brazilian bank (there are probably some banks that have branches in both Brazil and Canada if you look for them - HSBC advertises themselves as "the world's local bank") and get your Canadian bank to transfer the funds into the new account.
If you're intent on carrying it with you, I'd get most of it in a bank draft, so you're not actually carrying a briefcase full of Benjamins.
