I bought my xbox less than a year ago. Not sure on the HD size (it's up there though), but it did come with an external wi-fi connector, and Halo 3. Can't remember the price I paid off the top of my head though.
Obviously if my xbox breaks I will buy one of these, but I would have bought the old one too, so I don't see how MS is going to make any extra money off these, especially considering the costs to design, manufacture, etc. these.

It's an incremental improvement for sure, but the xbox platform doesn't need to be torn down and started from scratch. For now we can build on it with better processors, hard drives, cooling and form factor.
MS will make money the same way that Apple made money going from the iPhone 3G to the 3GS.
I don't own any game consoles right now (iPod touch is the closest it gets lol), but seeing as Kinect launches in November, I'll be hinting strongly for a birthday present.
