I think that would be a huge mistake.
First of all, the Montana Board of Regents will never separate UM from MSU, and MSU is certainly not ready for prime time.
Second, UM claims to have this great fan base, but how long do they think it's going to last when they aren't recruiting Montana kids anymore and are going 3-8 in the WAC?
Plus, with all of those added D-I scholarships, due to Title IX what women's sports are they going to add? Not a big market for field hockey in Montana.
Sometimes it truly is better to be a big fish in a small pond.
