this was my justification too.
if you go to bestbuy and buy something from the flyer all you see are the surface-level specs: ram, hard drive, processor.
you don't see bus speed, rpm on the hd, etc.
and you certainly don't see the trackpad quality, screen viewing angle, build quality, etc.
windows diehards will freak out, but it's the truth. if you buy a mac you know you're getting quality parts. building a similar non-mac computer is often surprisingly expensive. they're more comparable than you think. some things are just more difficult to put a number on.
