Yeah that seems to be the consensus among the experts. We'll all have to see how the rest of the Jays draft pans out before we can judge their first pick.

It makes sense with the way the future is setting up for the Jays though. Romero and Marcum both look to be front-end rotation guys for years to come with Cecil also having the potential to get there. If McGuire can be a solid contributer as quickly as the 2012 season, the Jays look to have a dominant, but still young and cheap pitching staff. By then, Snider and Wallace should be MLB mainstays and ideally one of their catching prospects will be ready too.

The logic with the safe first pick and supplementing it with risker, high ceiling picks in the later picks makes sense considering the Jays will be able to get value after the first round if they spend the money on signing bonuses they say they will.
