Default 2010 NCAA football thread....

Sounds like there could be a major change on the CFB landscape coming soon.

Quote:
Pac-10 commissioner Larry Scott emerged from the final day of conference meetings Sunday and announced that university presidents and chancellors have given him all the authority he needs to expand the Pac-10.

"What direction that process takes still could go in different directions, everything from remaining as we are as a Pac-10 that's got some very bright days ahead of it to a bigger conference footprint," Scott said. "I have the authority to take it in different directions, depending on various scenarios and discussions we're going to have."

There are reports that the PAC 10 will invite the entire Big 12 Southern division t(except Baylor and would add Colorado instead)to make the PAC 10 the PAC 16!

It would immediately make it the super-conference of the whole NCAA with USC/Texas/Oklahoma all part of the same one. Add in Oregon, Oregon St, OK St., and Texas tech...and it would be the deepest group of teams in the NCAA by a mile.

And if anyone wonders why this may be happening, as with everything NCAA the answer is $$$$.

The Pac-10 begins negotiating its new TV agreement at the end of this year and Scott said he needs to know the makeup of his conference before he sits down with TV executives. There are reports that expansion could be worth as much as $20 million per school.

Also it has been reported that the Big 10 has asked both Nebraska and Mizzou to join them which would effectively be the death knell for the Big 12 completely. I guess that would leave the remaining 4 teams to join the Big East...which would be a weak sister on any level.

On top of all that Boise St. is now poised to join the Mountain West Conference that includes TCU, and I would think its almost just a formality at this point as it would bump their credibility as a BCS player considerably.
