Just an FYI, those hosting top lists are completely bogus. Those types of lists appear on many different domain names, don't be fooled in believing they actually are an independent list. For example:
http://www.webhostingreport.com/
http://b2evolution.net/web-hosting/b...-cost-lamp.php
http://www.findbestwebhosting.com/
http://www.alreadyhosting.com/
http://webhostinggeeks.com/
http://www.webhostingmadness.com/
http://www.upperhost.com/
http://www.hostaz.com/
It's just recycled lists, most of the same hosting companies on them. Don't expect those ratings to actually mean anything. On top of that, many web hosts under different names are actually the same company, or they buy bandwidth from the same place, and even host their hardware in the same building(s). They also massively oversell their bandwidth and memory/disk space, knowing that 99% of their users will indeed use about 1% of what they are "allowed". If you actually plan on using close to the bandwidth the plan says you have, you're more than likely going to be throttled back, or run into limitations because the server you are on is going to choke.
I've used about 6-7 different hosts in the last 10 years, several that appear on those lists. None of them have been great, some have been atrocious. I had mediocre to terrible experiences with Bluehost, Host Gator, Ubiquity Hosting, GoDaddy, a few I don't remember. I have an account with Hostmonster right now, they so far have been okay, good enough where I can actually deal with them. I now run my own server for dev work and just use them to publish the sites. If you want quality hosting, you have to pay for it, and not get something for $6/month.
And keep in mind that experiences can vary greatly, it depends what physical machine you are being hosted on and how many others are hitting that machine at the same time etc.
