I don't dislike King as a player. I've long thought that neither Terry nor Ferdinand should be assured of their spots. Last season (07-08) Phil Jagielka would have been a lot of people's first choice at CB, including mine. Had bad luck with injuries recently though. Too bad Terry wasn't hound-dogging then.
I do think that it is a risk taking King to SA. The main reason is that it is hard for him to play consecutive matches. If he was suspect, like Barry, but would eventually come around fully-fit and play, then I have no problem. For England's sake, I hope he can play.
