I rented a HD movie last week when I had a one month trial of Shaw Extreme and it said the movie would be ready in 40 minutes a couple minutes after the download got going.

Well it is iTunes. It is running over my wireless N network to the Apple TV though, but I wouldn't think that would be much of a bottleneck. Perhaps my Shaw connection is the problem...
