The store will be on the upper level just off the food court of the existing Chinook Centre in a 2,100-square-foot retail space. The mall is also undergoing a multimillion-dollar expansion with several other stores opening there later this year, said Paige O’Neill, retail manager at Chinook.

The Lego opening wouldn’t be happening without dedicated fans, said Stern.

“We look at a few different things when we place a Lego store anywhere in the world,” she said.

“The first thing we look at is where our Lego fans are located,” said Stern.

Based on the Lego club magazine’s 2.1 million readers in North America, she said, Calgary has a good cluster of Lego fans.
