Update: It's pretty cool. There is some lag so I can't see using the iPad for too much development stuff. iTunes is great. Movies are choppy though. I could see using it as I do two monitors at work. Email on one screen, work on the other.
The touch screen moves the cursor to "select" something on the screen. As you would by holding down the mouse button. Using the emulator isn't great.
I don't like that I can't choose which side to leave the screen with the window I'm dragging. I have my iPad on the left hand side of my monitor but I have to drag the programs off the screen to the right.

You can choose which side to leave the screen on. system preferences on your mac, displays. Then drag the ipad display to the other side of your primary display.
