I said "Kimmel was on to something". I didn't say everything he said was what I had thought. What I meant was his thoughts about Jack dying at a certain time and it being about Jack and "his journey".
Every plot line I can come up with/read about has holes in it. It is interesting to me that jack dies right where he wakes up from the initial crash and how the reality seems to "appear" in the first episode. Also, there was something written on the shoe in the tree. Did anyone see what was written on it?
The smoke monster and Jacob could really simply be Jack's personal turmoil (good vs evil). The dharma initiative could simply be Jack's mind (the science part of his mind - being a doctor and all) trying to deal with the rest of what his mind created in his own personal purgatory...
Listen, these are just thoughts. I've read other theories that seem to make sense as well. Just because you think you've got it all worked out, doesn't mean you do. It is open to interpretation. It wasn't all wrapped up in a neat bow.
