Lost's problem was that it was always too ambitious. It was never going to satisfy everyone. I myself was not very receptive to the ending at first, but after reading more and more about it I think I am quite satisfied with how it concluded.
The ending scene with Jack closing his eye was to me an absolutely beautiful moment.
