I have the summer off and I want to get better at the guitar. I can play chords and basic tabs np but wanted to pick up a nice electric that will last me and that I can grow into. Suggestions? I don't want to go overboard on pricing but am willing to pay $1000+

Heading over to Axe guitars over the weekend but seeing as I just know how to play a bit and don't know much about brands etc., I don't wanna get taken by the sales rep.

Thx CP!
From my experience the sales rep won't take you, I find a lot of them are very knowledgeable and they'll help you out a lot.

I wouldn't spend $1000+ if I were you, you can get a pretty good electric for $500-700.

As for brands, a lot of them are good, it is all about preference and everyone has their own. I like ESP's but Gibson, Fender, Dean, Jackson, Ibanez, they're all good brands.
