I have the summer off and I want to get better at the guitar. I can play chords and basic tabs np but wanted to pick up a nice electric that will last me and that I can grow into. Suggestions? I don't want to go overboard on pricing but am willing to pay $1000+
Heading over to Axe guitars over the weekend but seeing as I just know how to play a bit and don't know much about brands etc., I don't wanna get taken by the sales rep.
Thx CP!

$1000 is actually a huge budget for a first electric guitar. It depends on what style you prefer as generally many players either go for a Strat or Les Paul Style and most guitars you'll find in a store are derivatives of those. You can opt for something different as well.
What are you interested in in a guitar? Don't look for brands, look for features that fit you as a player a look that you like as well. You'll want a guitar that has the kind of tone you want, has the neck radius for your style of play, etc.
I really love the guitar, sadly I have no musical friends and I often ended up going to Axe Music and Long & McQuade by myself. I would have never considered actually buying a guitar from those places though because they always seemed overpriced to me.
Anyway let me know what you are looking for and maybe I can come up with some suggestions.
