A month or so after the eruptions, I went for a little bicycle ride from Alberta, through BC down into Idaho and Montana before coming home.
Along the way, I remember jumping over a railway fence to get to some river water and landing in some foliage with a big "POOF" of dust flying up all around me.
The air was pretty thick with dust in a lot of places down through Yahk, Sandpoint and Cour'd'Alene before easing up in Montana . . . . . so probably not particularly healthy.
Ah, the salad days of being young and stupid.
