Yes Flash video can be easily converted, but not flash applications or flash based animation unless you have access to the original art and vector based images. It's not about keeping the format they are in, but being able to enjoy things that are only available in one format and cannot be converted for the future. There's no reason for me to hang onto crappy videos from 10 years ago unless they are in a format that can't properly be converted. I have some realmedia files that reject every attempt to be converted by any software I throw it into so I guess they have to stay that way.

Ironically, Apple’s refusal to support intermediate runtimes means that those old Flash apps can’t be cross-compiled for the iPhone and run as native iPhone OS apps (a feature of the newest Flash environment in CS5), which would have been one way of bringing that content forward with you.
