I have to say in my experience, the EA game is superior to ESPN....Now I haven't played EA 2005 yet, but if it improves upon last years then it has to be better.....

ESPN is not my game of choice....I bought it Tuesday and the players all look like Neanderthals, the crowds are poor, the arenas are weak, I wish Gary Thorne could pronounce people's names correctly.

Also, the game play is well, boring. The player movements are terrrible, one timers are done on totally unnatural footing. It's just not a great game.

the Franchise mode is also disappointing. The only extra besides Contracts is scouting. there's no ticket pricing, attentance info, etc....

I look forward to NHL 2005 SO MUCH!
Gameplay is boring? Well that's your opinion, but at least it's realistic. I personally like having to earn my goals as opposed to EA where you can skate through the opposing team like they were pylons. I've watched gameplay for NHL 2005 and it's as unsimlike as ever. You can pass right through player's feet and they make no attempt to stop them whatsoever. You may think player movements in ESPN NHL 2k5 are terrible, but it is widely regarded that the ESPN series gives you the best control over your players than any other hockey games.

EA didn't even have NHL arenas last year. I know they have them this year, but based on screenshots ESPN's are clearly better IMO. Regardless, how can you complaining about weak arenas in ESPN when in all of our EA experiences up until mid-September they don't even have NHL rinks?

Concerning franchise, you'd rather set the prices of your hotdogs and buy jumbo jets than scout players that you might consider acquiring over the season, beef up your minor league roster and get game results and scouting reports for your future NHL stars? Again, it's your opinion, but your argument is weak at best. Scouting or setting the prices of food/tickets (which really mean nothing in the long run). It's your choice.
