years ago when I was picking up a pump from a rig I had to wait a bit for the pump to come out, so I passed the time talking to the consultant. He told me that they were working a man short because the rookie they had just hired walked off the job the day before because of a prank. Seems the push decided to haze the guy, so he took a dump on the ground and covered it with a spare hard hat, then called the new guy over. He told him he had trapped a hurt bird under the hard hat, and that as soon as he lifted the hard hat the new guy had to grab for the bird fast before it got away, so they could take it to the vet to get it looked at.
